Cancellation, Transfer & Refund

Cancellations or transfers at late notice can affect the viability of a course, or prevent others from attending one that was previously full.

We accept cancellations and transfers to courses scheduled more than 10 working days in the future at any time without a charge. If your cancellation or transfer is received at shorter notice, the charges below apply.

We are happy to accept substitutions meeting the required course pre-requisites at any time without charge.

If ACE cancels a course

In the unlikely event that the course you have enrolled in is cancelled, or ACE ceases to offer that course, a full refund of all monies paid will be made within thirty days of receipt of claim. The claim must be in writing, dated, signed and sent or delivered to ACE. Include name, address, phone, email address and details of claim.

Attendance & withdrawal

If a student doesn't attend on two consecutive days, reasonable effort will be made by the Training Manager or co-ordinator to contact the student (or their agent) by phone and/or email to ascertain the reasons and to offer help or advice. A medical certificate may be required if you are absent for two or more days.

If non-attendance continues for three consecutive days without contact or notification, the Training Manager or Centre Manager will attempt to ascertain the reasons and offer help or advice, and will inform the student (or their agent) in writing that they are in danger of being removed from the course. This communication is recorded in the Contact Management System.

Non-attendance for three consecutive days without notification or reasonable cause is regarded as withdrawing from the course, and a refund may apply. Students must apply in writing to the CEO of ACE for a refund stating the reasons for withdrawal.

Circumstances in which ACE may terminate tuition

ACE may terminate tuition if the student:

  • does not attend for three consecutive days without notification or reasonable cause;
  • is unduly disruptive or unruly during classes;
  • is in possession of alcohol or offensive weapons on ACE premises;
  • has been involved in any form of harassment, whether sexual or otherwise — verbal, visual or behavioural in nature — which is offensive and unwelcome;

  • copies software or data onto ACE's computers without authority or without virus checking;
  • uses illegal or unlicensed software;
  • downloads offensive or pornographic material;
  • downloads music, games, movies or any form of virus or hacking software.

In these cases students may apply in writing to ACE for a refund stating the reasons for termination or withdrawal.

Circumstances in which ACE will terminate tuition

ACE will terminate tuition if the student:

  • has been caught cheating during exams;
  • removes equipment from ACE premises without authority;
  • has been involved in a breach of New Zealand law, for example possession of drugs.

In these cases there is no refund of any fees.
